Program Status

Palo Alto College has received approval from the State of Texas and from our accreditor, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, to offer the Bachelor of Applied Technology (BAT) in Operations Management, the college's first bachelor's degree. The program launched its first cohort of students in Spring 2024.

 

Operations Management Program Learning Outcomes

Graduates of the Operations Management program will be able to:

  • Create, organize, and lead a collaborative team responsible for an organizational case study.
  • Research, compile, and analyze data to report the strengths, weaknesses, stability, or other concerns of an organization.
  • Develop a business plan that articulates the associated legal and ethical implications.
  • Implement project management and business operation techniques to successfully execute a well-defined project.
  • Design a business strategy for an organization, incorporating the rationale for decisions and corollary actions.
  • Possess effective communication skills in both written and oral formats that demonstrate an understanding of organizational methodologies, building relationships, and social responsibility

Graduates of the program will have the skills and knowledge necessary to plan, organize, and control the activities that produce and deliver goods and services to customers.

How the Program Works

To qualify for upper-division courses in the Bachelor of Applied Technology (BAT) in Operations Management program, you must meet the following criteria:

  1. Core Curriculum: Achieve 30 out of 42 semester credit hours required by the Core Curriculum.
  2. Lower-Division Courses: Successfully complete 12 semester credit hours of required lower-division courses specific to the BAT program.
  3. Elective Courses: Complete 6 semester credit hours of prescribed elective courses.

You must earn a grade of “C” or better in each technical course required by the program. Exceptions may be granted based on individual circumstances and academic preparedness, as determined by the Dean of Career and Technical Education and the Program Lead.

Tuition and Fees

The 120 semester credit hours required by the BAT in Operations Management will be available face-to-face or through online courses. The 30 semester hours of junior/senior courses will be available fully online. Students taking all their courses online are eligible for eRate tuition, which is currently $109 per semester credit hour for in-district Texas residents and $180 per semester credit hour for all other students living in the United States. The tuition rate for students taking face-to-face courses or a combination of face-to-face and online courses varies from the eRate for out-of-district and out-of-state students.
